Windsor named a finalist for Economic Developers Council of Ontario award

The City of Windsor's efforts to attract the Minth Group's first Canadian manufacturing facility to the region are gaining recognition province-wide.

The city has been named a finalist for the Economic Developers Council of Ontario Awards of Excellence in the Business Attraction and Retention Urban category.

Amid global trade uncertainty caused by the Trump Administration's trade war, the city led an 18-month, all-hands-on-deck effort to deliver a seamless, one-stop shop for developers, giving Minth the confidence to invest here.

"Minth Group is proud to have partnered with the City of Windsor on this transformative investment," said Minth's Managing Director, North American Headquarters, Jeremy Coulter. "The city's proactive, collaborative approach and commitment to delivering solutions gave us confidence in choosing Windsor for our first Canadian manufacturing campus. We congratulate the city on being named an EDCO Award finalist."

The efforts led to the development of a one-million-square-foot electric vehicle-focused manufacturing campus, the transformation of 54 acres of airport land for industrial use, the announcement of a joint venture with AISIN Corporation for a second facility, and the strengthening of the city's position as a national leader in EV and advanced manufacturing.

"The project stands as more than just an investment," said a release from the city. "It exemplifies how purposeful teamwork, speed, and delivery excellence can attract global partners and fuel transformative economic growth for the region."

The collaborative approach is now a cornerstone in Windsor's foreign direct investment strategy.

The winners of the EDCO Awards of Excellence will be announced and presented in February.
