Drug trafficking suspect from Palmerston bust arrested in B.C.

A historic drug trafficking investigation in Palmerston finally has a suspect in handcuffs.

In May of 2020, the Wellington County OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence in Palmerston in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.

The search warrant ended up resulting in officers seizing a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Now, over six years later, police have a suspect in custody. On June 3, investigators confirmed that a now y2-year-old man from B.C. was arrested in Kelowna, and sent back to Ontario in connection to the 2020 bust in Palmerston.

The accused is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with a release order. The arrest was completed alongside efforts from the British Columbia RCMP, OPP West Region Emergency Response Team, OPP Aviation Services and OPP Bail Support Team.

The accused was still in police custody pending a bail hearing that occurred on Monday before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
